Course Description:

The Federal Radiological Monitoring and Assessment Center (FRMAC) is one of the nation’s radiation emergency responder assets. One of the methods that FRMAC uses to provide support is with the creation modeling and data products that present radiological dose assessments that are used to support emergency responder and public safety decisions. Typically in map or report form, these dose assessment products are a tool used to put the situation on paper such that the local decision makers can conceptualize the areas that have been affected by the radiation emergency. This workshop is a is a one day interactive session that is provided to offer a deeper level of discussion and awareness on the product set beyond the materials provided in the basic FRMAC overview presentations. The primary objective of this course is for students to achieve a foundation of knowledge with respect to the types of products that FRMAC can make, basic inputs needed to create the dose assessment products, and an understanding of the questions that typically are presented during a radiological emergency response. The workshop will focus on students interacting with the materials, and active learning through discussion. Successful completion of the course will require full participation in the learning activities and passing a final exam.

Audience:

All public safety and emergency management personnel that may have to coordinate with the FRMAC during a radiological event.

Prerequisites:

LN-100 Intro to FRMAC Liaison

Registration:

Registration is limited to personnel who could be involved in the response to a radiological event.
