DESCRIPTION:Registration: https://teex.org/class/PER211/ \nCourse Description: \nWhat if a catastrophic event occurs? Will you be ready? Will you need a special level of protection? Is decontamination necessary? Do you have the right medications? \nPER 211\, Medical Management of Chemical\, Biological\, Radiological\, Nuclear and Explosives\, (CBRNE) Events answers these questions and more as you learn how to distinguish between different agents of concern that could be used in a major incident. \nThis course is a combination of facilitated discussions\, small-group exercises\, Human Patient Simulator hands-on scenarios\, and traditional classroom discussions. Exercises are conducted in a CBRNE scenario using both adult and pediatric Human Patient Simulators to reinforce classroom lectures and interaction. \nThis course promotes critical thinking skills while utilizing the RAPID-Care concept. SUMMARY:MGT-318: Public Information in an All-Hazards Incident
DESCRIPTION:Registration: https://teex.org/class/mgt318/ \nPOC: esti@teex.tamu.edu or call (866) 878-8900 \nCourse Description: \n\nThis course examines the role of public information in all-hazards incident management and provides practical training in crisis communication techniques. In a major incident\, it is imperative that community leaders\, incident managers\, and Public Information Officers (PIOs) are prepared to communicate with the public through traditional and social media. The course consists of three modules. \nThe first module reviews the topics of terrorism\, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs)\, national response structures\, incident management\, and government and agency roles. Participants learn about the passing of information to the public in a WMD\, terrorism\, or other all-hazards incident and the function of joint information operations. \nThe second module covers issues unique to interacting with members of the media to help you build more effective relationships and avoid common mistakes when providing information to the press and public.  The module includes a mock press conference exercise in which the class is broken into groups to prepare for and conduct press conferences based on fictional WMD\, terrorism\, and all-hazards incident scenarios. These scenarios are taken from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National Planning Scenarios. \nThe third module introduces the crisis communication life cycle and crisis communication planning. A six-phase cycle is discussed\, with public information objectives and key actions for managing each phase provided. Participants learn how to create a crisis communication plan and develop a crisis communication team to execute it.

The course content applies to a vast number of critical situations\, including natural disasters or terrorist incidents. \nYou will be instructed in practical search methods and skills so you can perform systematic searches over a large affected area. The training will include challenging exercises that mirror real life scenarios. The three-day long event will conclude with an in-depth exercise that requires participants to utilize the skills gained during the course by working through an incident from start to finish in a single operational period. \nThe trainers delivering the course are knowledgeable—they are experienced emergency responders who have actively utilized wide area search techniques during some of the nation’s largest and most challenging operations\, such as Hurricanes Katrina\, Ike\, Gustav\, and Rita; the Space Shuttle Columbia recovery operation; and many other incidents that required the same comprehensive strategies.

SUMMARY:PER-377: Cybersecurity Proactive Defense (CPD)
DESCRIPTION:Registration: https://cybersecuritydefenseinitiative.org/cdi-courses/ \nPOC: Steven Washkowiak scwashkowiak@cji.edu \nCourse Description: \n\n\nAn intermediate-level instructor-led course designed for technical personnel who monitor and protect our nation’s critical cyber infrastructure. CPD uses hands-on computer lab applications to simulate advanced attack vectors\, sequential and escalating attack steps\, and hands-on attack execution. Students learn penetration testing skills\, defense analysis techniques\, and real-time response and threat mitigation steps. \nCPD is offered free-of-charge to technical personnel who work for agencies or organizations considered as a part of our nations critical infrastructure. \nBlended learning methods will be utilized\, to include a balance of classroom lecture\, hands-on laboratory exercises\, and the use of cybersecurity response tools\, as cyber attacks against significant national network infrastructure targets will be simulated. \nCPD classes stress a proactive approach to providing computer\, network\, and infrastructure incident response handling. Solutions and methods taught are non-vendor-specific\, which does not require participants to have specialized software when trying to implement class lessons at their own agencies. CDI stresses proper network and data engineering techniques and methodology over simple software packages\, keeping agency financial requirements to a minimum.
