DESCRIPTION:Registration: https://teex.org/class/MGT467/ \nCourse Description: \nTechniques used to deliver timely and accurate information in a complex information environment is challenging to any community or organization hosting a mass gathering. This interdisciplinary course brings planners\, operators\, communication\, government\, public safety\, marketing and public relations professionals together to prepare and/or enhance venue and event communication programs. The course prepares participants to identify and navigate the sport and special event communication landscape before\, during\, and after an incident. \nThis course was developed in a partnership effort between The University of Southern Mississippi’s National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (USM/NCS4) and the TEEX National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center (NERRTC).

Additional courses are:\nL0101: Foundations of Emergency Management (May 20-24\, 2024)\nL0102: Science of Disaster (June 10-12\, 2024)\nL0105: Public Information Basics (July 15-17\, 2024)\nL0146: Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program Training Course (July 18-19\, 2024) \nFlyer: FY24FullBasicAcademy \nPOC: Training@ema.alabama.gov \nCourse Description: \nThis course is designed to give basic concepts and planning steps to those new to the field of emergency management so that they may apply planning discipline and skills to challenges in their jobs. The course content includes Emergency Management Planning doctrine and steps to take to accomplish writing plans and using them to deal with special events\, which are common challenges for all jurisdictions. \nThe content also derives from the Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 101\, Developing and Maintaining State\, Territorial\, Tribal and Local Government Emergency Plans\, and its six-step planning process and inclusive whole community philosophy. Likewise\, doctrine from the Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 201\, Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA)\, is included in the course. Special event planning is then explained in the course\, and table group activities to analyze plans for special events are conducted. \nObjectives: \n\nExplain the relationships among preparedness\, THIRA\, and emergency operations planning.\nIdentify the steps in the emergency planning process and their expected outcomes.\nDescribe the purpose and components of an Emergency Operations Plan.\nApply the emergency planning principles and process in evaluating an Emergency Operations Plan.\n\nPrerequisites: \nNone
