This course works best when delivered to combined audience of ICS and EOC personnel. DESCRIPTION:Registration: https://cybersecuritydefenseinitiative.org/courses/mpdr-course-2/ \nPOC: Steven Washkowiak scwashkowiak@cji.edu \nFlyer: MPDR_Flyer_Montgomery_Nov24 \nCourse Description: \n\nThe goal of MPDR is to provide technical personnel with the hands-on expertise necessary to prevent\, discover\, recognize\, and recover from modern malware which often is a fundamental ingredient of a large number of computer network breaches and data theft incidents. MPDR is a four-day course that will expose participants to analysis of malicious software used by cyber-criminals and cyber-terrorists. After an introduction to modern malware\, participants will learn how to prevent a malware outbreak\, discover and identify malware through active network traffic analysis\, prepare for dynamic analysis of malware samples of various types and intent\, and how to isolate\, remediate\, and recover from a malware outbreak. Finally\, the course will conclude with a review of dynamic malware analysis and a look at emerging trends in the use of malicious software in network intrusions and data theft. \nThis course is an intermediate level\, hands-on course where knowledge and basic experience is required. Alternative experience may be considered in lieu of listed requirements\, based upon seating availability and review by CDI admissions staff. \nMPDR is offered free-of-charge to technical personnel who work for agencies or organizations considered as a part of our nations critical infrastructure. \nBlended learning methods will be utilized\, to include a balance of classroom lecture\, hands-on laboratory exercises\, and the use of cybersecurity response tools\, as cyber attacks against significant national network infrastructure targets will be simulated. \nMPDR classes stress a proactive approach to preventing malware infections when possible\, and how to efficiently and effectively respond to infections when they occur. Solutions and methods taught are non-vendor-specific and do not require participants to have costly specialized software when trying to implement class lessons at their own agencies. MPDR stresses proper malware preventative methods but\, given the current state of malware infections in society\, assumes that preventative measures will fall short. Accordingly\, MPDR focuses on discovery\, analysis\, and recovery from malware infections. \nUpon completion of this course\, participants will have an increased understanding of modern malware\, how to identify it through active network monitoring\, how to classify it according to type characteristics and intent\, and how to isolate\, remediate\, and recover from a malware outbreak. SUMMARY:Information Technology Service Unit Leader (ITSL) Training Course

This has spurred the need for personnel with highly specialized knowledge and expertise to be included in the ICS during planned events and incidents. In 2018 and 2019\, ICTAP introduced the ITSL course\, and SAFECOM/NCSWIC have coordinated with FEMA NIC and other organizations focused on public safety communications to establish the best way to integrate the ITSL into the ICS. The ITSL is needed to provide information management\, cybersecurity\, and application management for the many critical incident/event related functions\, to include: Incident/Unified Command Post\, Incident Communications Centers\, and various tactical operations centers\, joint information center (JIC)\, staging areas\, and field locations. The critical need for sufficient access to data\, applications\, and systems has been reconfirmed during observation of recent ICCAP events which have revealed the widespread and well-established use of a variety of means by individual agencies to access mobile data. However\, the coordinated sharing of this data across agencies and jurisdictions is significantly less mature and poses a significant  interoperability challenge. \nTo meet this need\, ICTAP has developed the ITSL course. The ITSL course targets Federal\, state/territory\, tribal\, urban\, local\, and emergency response professionals\, and support personnel in all disciplines with a communications background and an aptitude for and extensive experience in information technology. \nSpecifically\, the training course provides an overview of the ITSL components including Communications/IT Help Desk or Unified Help Desk\, IT Infrastructure Manager\, Network Manager. It covers their roles and responsibilities and provides an in-depth overview with exercises for the ITSL’s major functions\, to include ensuring reliable and timely delivery of IT services to participating agencies and officials. \nPrerequisites for Attendance\nPersonal experience:\n• A public safety background with experience in field operations and/or experience\nproviding information technology solutions to support public safety operations\n• Awareness of fundamental public safety broadband and wireless communications\ntechnology\nMust have completed the following on-line courses from the FEMA EMI website:\n• IS-100\, Introduction to the ICS\n• IS-200\, ICS for Single Resources and Initial Incidents\n• IS-700\, National Incident Management System (NIMS)\, an Introduction\n• IS-800\, National Response Framework (NRF) \nCompletion of the following in-person classroom instruction:\n• ICS-300\, Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents\nAdditional recommended training:\n• ICS-400\, Advanced ICS Command and General Staff Complex Incidents\, is recommended\nbut not required
