SUMMARY:AWR-148: Crisis Management for School-Based Incidents: Partnering Rural Law Enforcement\, First Responders\, and Local School Systems
DESCRIPTION:AWR-148 is an 8-hour\, DHS/FEMA-certified\, tuition-free course designed to educate rural law enforcement personnel as well as school administrators and staff on the elements that would allow for an effective response to school-based emergencies. Schools in small\, rural\, and remote areas across the country account for almost 23 percent of the total student population (more than 11million students). Rural schools\, law enforcement\, and other emergency responders are often limited in resources. It is imperative that all\npotentially affected parties collaborate on planning\, preparing\, communicating\, responding\, and recovering from a school-based incident. \nTopics include (but not limited to):\n• Introduction to Incident Planning and Preparedness\n• Proactive Threat Mitigation\n• Incident Response\n• Incident Recovery\n• Vulnerability Assessments\n• Threat Assessment Management\n• Incident Defusing and Debriefing\n• Reunification\n• Anniversaries\, Memorials\, “Copy-Cats” \nWho should attend:\n• All First Responders\, especially Law Enforcement\n• School Administrators\n• School Safety and Security Personnel\n• Community Emergency Management Personnel\n• Community Mental Health Personnel\n• Community Stakeholders \nRegistration is required through the RDPC website.
