DESCRIPTION:L0276 Benefit-Cost Analysis: Entry-Level\nAlabama EMA Media Room – Clanton\, Alabama\nCourse Description:\nThis course is designed as an introduction to the fundamental concepts of benefit-cost (BC) analysis. Participants will learn how to obtain BC data and conduct analyses using the latest version of the Benefit Cost Toolkit. This course will not teach how to conduct level-two BC analyses. \nSelection Criteria:\nThe primary audience for this course is Federal\, state\, local\, and tribal hazard mitigation staff; applicants/grantees; subapplicants/subgrantees; and personnel who are involved in the grant application development process and provide technical assistance. \nCourse Objectives:\nAt the end of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nDemonstrate their knowledge of the basic Benefit-Cost Analysis (BCA) theory.\nDemonstrate their knowledge of the basic flood concepts.\nDescribe features of the BCA Tool.\nComplete a BCA using the Flood Module.\nExplain each screen and important data fields in the Flood Module.\nComplete the independent case study assignment.\nUse supplemental tools and techniques in the BCA Tool in response to different scenarios\, which include: multiple structures\, displacement costs calculation\, loss of function calculation\, benefit-cost ratio just below 1.0\, types of basements.\nExplain key Damage-Frequency Assessments (DFA) concepts.\nIdentify eligible hazards.\nExplain the DFA Module data and documentation requirements.\nComplete a DFA Module BCA.\nExplain Tornado Safe Room\, Hurricane Wind\, Hurricane Safe Room\, Wildfire\, and Earthquake Module data and documentation requirements.\nComplete a Tornado Safe Room\, Hurricane Wind\, Hurricane Safe Room\, Wildfire\, and Earthquake Module BCA.\n\nPrerequisite(s):\nIS-276.a BCA: Entry-Level \n  \nStudents will need to complete a FEMA 119-25-2 General Application Short Form and supply a copy of their certificate from the Independent Study Course at the beginning of the course to receive credit.
